Discovery Days

Discovery Days offer students an alternative or supplement to the one-hour tour experience. At learning stations throughout the museum, students engage in grade-level learning activities that stimulate their curiosity and appetite for discovery. Students can choose the activities they participate in. All activities engage multiple modes of learning (e.g., through touch, sight, sound, and movement) and help students better understand art and cultures from around the world. To round out their learning, teaching artists and studio assistants guide students through artmaking activities that teach art skills and inspire curiosity about global cultures.

Recommended for grades 3 to 6.

Note: Only school groups require advanced reservation, which are available for 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 11 a.m. Mia members and the public may drop in and participate anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a Discovery Day.
